pet peeve #5
the ignorant generation...
There was a discussion board about this teen pregnancy "epidemic" and this is one girl's response;
Saint Salvia
"Mmmm, nothing like more complaining about the sexual natures and identities of my generation, You're throat choking attempts at control are but a mimic of every generation before hand, yes, I see my contemporaries slowing killing themselves through celeb worship and drinking or drugs, but that IS THEIR CHOICE to do so, you seek to put you nose in everyone's business and control the world in old dying values, it is a new age, get used to it. Perhaps you should seek out the intellectuals of my generation, the philosophers, the ones thinking up new ideals, new believes and new beautiful expressions of how to define our world through art culture and music. and quit focusing on the wasting trash that has become the face of the current teen, put your hands back in your pocket and off the shoulders of the new generation, you should know just as well, nothing can be done to change. Stop promoting negativity.
-B. Age 17."
Now, I'm not that much older than her and want no part of the generation she's claiming, this was my oh-so-wise and mature response to her post ;)
And to little miss Saint Salvia...
It's because of thinkers like yourself, who believe they can do whatever they want and it doesn't matter because it's their life that such bigger problems exist in our society. Stop to consider the impact such thinking and decision have on others (like having sex at 15 then getting pregnant...now the "Its my life, leave me alone" excuse doesn't work because there is another life involved too, plus the people who have to take the time to deal with the teen mom, like doctors and parents...it wasn't their decision, but they have to "deal with it" now.). Take another example: teen drinking. Fine, we'll leave those kids alone too, let them make their decisions....then one of them makes the wise decision to drive while drunk (we left them alone, so its okay) they hit another vehicle and injured/killed (take your pick) others. But, we need to leave them alone because things are changing and they are making their own decisions...REALLY???
If we leave them alone...pretty soon there won't be any "intellectuals of [your] generation" left.
like I said...I have a lot of pet peeves!

its a dry heat
Its been about a year since we moved away from AZ and we had the opportunity to go back for a visit this last weekend. We took an evening flight out on Wednesday, and after driving an hour to the airport we discovered our flight was delayed (3 hrs), we decided to be put on a different flight with a connection in Oakland before landing in AZ...let's just say we dodged a bullet with that and won't be making any more last minute flight changes in the future!
And, since I was getting WAY TOO excited about visiting the land of the sun, something had to ruin it for me...so I got sick the day before we left and it kept getting worse! I was sick the entire time and lost my voice for 3 days.

But, I was determined to have a good time anyways! I didn't get to do nearly as much as I wanted to, but that didn't stop the "man-child" from having a good time! He went swimming for the first time and loved it! We got to see some of our good friends and we hung out at their house, which has a pool (so does every other house in AZ...)
I loved the hot weather, it was about 105 the whole time! After swimming we played rock band...it's a good thing they all have day jobs.....!
We made sure to eat at some of our favorite places (Red Robin, Tropical Smoothie Cafe, and Chen's), there were tons of other places we wanted to eat, but there just aren't enough meals in the day!

No matter what we were doing, little bubba was having a good time! He loved hangin' out with the PJ'S and even tried a few new tricks! He's figuring out he may not need a free ride from mommy or daddy anymore as he now gets up on his hands and knees and rocks back and forth...getting ready to crawl, of course....let the races begin!
On Saturday, we went to Canyon Lake and had a fun time on the boat. We did wakeboarding and tube wars!
All the pictures of me on the water are on the PJ'S camera, so you'll just have to take my word for it...I was getting major air and doing all kinds of tricks, I have insane skills, just trust me....
The little guy even did great on the plane rides! He's a great traveler, which makes us happy!

And, of course there was drama and issues with our flight coming home (it wouldn't be me if there wasn't). Nothing too major, but it just solidifies my future as a lone traveler now...my families have sworn off flying anywhere with me, I have the worst luck with flights!
I LOVE Arizona and would totally move back there! We had such a fun time with our friends and Patrick & Jess (thanks guys for letting us stay in our own house while we visited!!!) We miss you guys!

much better this time
So we haven't been to the movie theatre in at least 5 months...which is HUGE for us because that's one of our all-time, most favorite things to do ever! But, since the little "man-child" came along things have definitely changed! While we were in Arizona this last weekend we finally got to go and we double-dated with the PJ'S (thanks to J's little sis for "baby monitoring" the little guy for us!).
So...what movie would you see if it'd been eons since enjoying the experience of the smell of theatre popcorn, sticky pop floors, and sneaking in your own much cheaper candy? Well, we decided to see "The Incredible Hulk" and I'm going to say, while it wasn't my first choice (or second, or third...) it was WAY better than the one they did a few years ago (which isn't hard to do!)! We saw this movie rather than any others because our little friends (the PJ'S) are still in baby-free mode and they share the same love of movies that we do, so they've already seen everything else!
We had a good time and we enjoyed our double date! (oh how I miss going to the movies! now that the little guy is going to sleep on his own and sleeping through the night, we plan on going much more often -talk about easy babysitting...we call it "baby monitoring"...'cause all you have to do is listen to the baby monitor, just-in-case!)
FYI...more about our AZ trip later...

finally...some pictures
I finally got some pictures to load from my camera onto my computer. I had taken some pics of little bubba playing on our bed a couple different days...
These were from camping at the sand dunes over Memorial weekend. The little man loved it and did so great...he's such a guy already! Everyone had a blast playing on Grandpa's new toy!
